Dr Ayoma Sumanasiri

Dr Ayoma Sumanasiri is an experienced educator and researcher with over 19 years of experience in the fields of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and economics. Currently serving as a Lecturer at Lyons College in Melbourne, Ayoma has a proven track record of fostering innovative and effective learning environments that optimize student outcomes. Ayoma is also a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee at Lyons College.

Ayoma’s academic journey is marked by significant contributions to both Australian and Sri Lankan higher education institutions. Her previous roles include Lecturer positions at Box Hill Institute, Victoria University, and Swinburne University, where she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to high quality education and research.

In Sri Lanka, Ayoma held prominent positions at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, including Department Head, Senior Lecturer, and Director of International Affairs. She spearheaded initiatives such as the introduction of new academic programs, alumni-supported scholarships, and corporate-funded academic awards, which significantly bolstered the university’s community engagement and academic standing. Ayoma’s research interests are diverse and impactful, with numerous publications in journals and presentations at international conferences. Holding a PhD in Business from Swinburne University, Australia, an MBA from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, a Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honors, and a Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, Ayoma’s academic credentials are complemented by her professional memberships with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) as a Passed Finalist.
